My New Challenge
Now that I’ve completed writing Zombie Ass Slappers I’m coursing with the bug to write. I’ve been feeling it profoundly. Over the years I’ve filled my head with numerous ideas for which I’ve never done anything more than talk about. I figured, the time is now. Although my job is by no means glamorous, especially during the Fall and Winter months, it does afford me ample time to work on scripts. Acknowledging this fact is forcing me to push myself. To challenge myself, if you will! So, I’ve begun working on a new script. It’s a comedy. The basic plot is, two best friends start a band with aspirations of becoming the biggest band ever! The idea of this came from a dream I had. It was very vivid and I believe I woke up giggling at the imagery. My challenge to myself is to try and write a rough draft in 30 days. That’s roughly 90 pages in 30 days. I tried starting this last week but could not get past the opening. I got hung up on the first joke. So today, the 16th of November, I started writing. On the 15th of December I will share what I’ve written with a select few friends. Upon getting feedback I will comb the script to do a revision and hope to have a working rough draft of my second script this year.I’ve already written about 8 pages today. I may call it a day and pick it back up Thursday as I have to work a different job tomorrow.

On a side note. Last night at capoeira I learned the first of the Bimba’s Sequences. There are eight of the sequences all together. They were designed to help new students learn how to combine movements, respond to their partner and feel comfortable playing capoeira. It’s a nice feeling being able to combine these movements while getting a better understanding of how to properly execute them as well as how to flow into other movements from them. I had a lot of fun training last night and learning songs in a language I don’t understand yet. I’m a big fan of learning.
